On a camera like the VueSMART # HM34FR the power going to the camera is what powers the camera and if on the reverse circuit it would power on and then be able to connect only when in reverse. It could be that the draw of the Curt T-Connector # C56355 on your 2012 Volvo XC60 that's causing the problem, but I will say that it's not uncommon for backup camera systems to be a bit finicky so I recommend disconnecting the tees of the Curt system from the tail lights on your XC60 and then running your camera system through the motions to see if you're still having issues or not. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89UR will not interfere with the backup camera on your 2021 Toyota Venza. The camera is located just above the license plate on the rear of your vehicle, and the hitch mounts below the rear bumper. I have attached a picture below showing the receiver tube below the bumper. Instead of rewiring everything I recommend product # RVS-611-IR which comes with infrared illuminators which help immensely when in low light / no light conditions.
Voyager designs their cameras to only work with their wiring and do not manufacture adapters so if you would like to switch to a voyager camera you would have to rewire your whole system. The manufacturer also stated that their products wouldn't be compatible with your in-dash Mercedes display screen.

The Voyager 2.0 like the # ASA37YR does support up to four cameras. However, the only option is to add the # ASA64YR. There are no true sidemarker cameras available.
